THIRTY-SIX incoming freshmen high school students from Balasan, Iloilo were given another hope to continue fulfilling their dreams after super typhoon “Yolanda” wrecked their homes and left them with nothing but bad memories.
As part of its commitment in providing innovative financial services and enterprise development support for the economic empowerment of the indigents in Panay, Progressive Bank, Inc. initiated a scholarship program to support outstanding children of its microfinance clients.
The program is also in line with the national call of providing equal access to quality education.
The awarding of the scholarship grants was held on June 6 at Progressive Bank, Inc. in Balasan.
The scholarship includes full tuition and school fees and a monthly stipend worth P500.
The scholars were chosen out of the 50 applicants through a series of qualifying examinations and interviews conducted by the management of the bank.
Present during the awarding ceremony were members of the Board led by Col. Eduardo “Red” Kapunan, Jr., local government officials and representatives from the Department of Education./PN
