BACOLOD City – Police arrested 38 people in a suspected drug and gambling den near a barangay hall early Sunday.
A raiding team caught some suspects in the middle of a gambling game and nabbed the rest as they sold narcotics inside the house owned by Paul Lahica in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.
Among those arrested were siblings Hazel and Henry Murillo, who allegedly run the den. Confiscated from them were 17 sachets of suspected shabu.
“We received reports that these people were having a fiesta while we’re celebrating the MassKara Festival,” said Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 2 commander.
“So we swooped in. Luckily we were able to arrest some police (watch list) personalities at the site, too,” Villarias said.
Earlier this year 18 people were also arrested when officers raided Lachica’s house.
But the house owner evaded Sunday’s raid.
Police said he will face criminal charges along with the other suspects, who have denied the allegations against them. (ABS-CBN News)
