39% of WV cops vaccinated vs COVID

ILOILO City – A total of 5,239 police personnel – 39 percent of the total police strength of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) – have so far been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Based on the data (as of Aug. 2) of the PRO-6, 3,395 completed their vaccination while 1,844 have yet to receive their second doses.  

Here’s the breakdown of vaccinees per police unit:

* Aklan Police Provincial Office – 311 got first dose, 230 completed (out of 1,237 total personnel)

* Antique Police Provincial Office – 72 got first dose, 339 completed (out of 1,032 total personnel)

* Bacolod City Police Office – 114 got first dose, 323 completed (out of 785 total personnel)

* Capiz Police Provincial Office – 31 got first dose, 432 completed (out of 1,228 total personnel)

* Guimaras Police Provincial Office – 20 got first dose, 65 completed (out of 346 total personnel)

* Iloilo City Police Office – 119 got first dose, 510 completed (out of 760 total personnel)

* Iloilo Police Provincial Office – 461 got first dose, 594 completed (out of 2,038 total personnel)

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – 363 got first dose, 467 completed (out of 2,238 total personnel)

* Regional Headquarters – 137 got first dose, 430 completed (out of 2,888 total personnel)

* Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) – 216 got first dose, five completed (out of 1,002 total personnel)

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, the RMFB had the lowest turnout yet; because they’re not attached to local government units (LGU), they have to wait for their schedule. 

Malong also hopes more police personnel would be vaccinated.

“Many of our police personnel were infected while on duty,” she lamented .

As of Aug. 2, PRO-6 recorded a total of 1,107 police who were infected by COVID-19, of which 966 recovered, 138 were active and three died./PN
