ILOILO City – The 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army marked its 50th founding anniversary yesterday with a commemorative event at Camp Gen. Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz province.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Matatag na Spearhead Division sa Bagong Pilipinas”, highlighted the 3ID’s commitment to safeguarding community peace.

During the ceremony, Major General Marion Sison, the 3ID commander, reflected on the sacrifices and hardships endured by the division’s personnel, past and present.

“As we celebrate this milestone, it is crucial to honor the legacy of those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Their commitment reminds us of the price of our freedom and continues to inspire our pursuit of excellence and vigilance,” said Sison.

Former 3ID commander and current Sara, Iloilo mayor Jon Aying discussed the Division’s significant advancements in capability, particularly in military training and operational systems.

“With continuous improvements in our personnel, leadership, management, and facilities year over year, I foresee a stronger armed force, well-prepared to serve and protect our communities,” said Mayor Aying.

Aying, who retired five years ago and served as the 34th commander of the 3ID, highlighted the notable enhancement of the division’s firepower and material equipment compared to previous years./PN
