ILOILO City – The 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army and the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) met for talks on stopping insurgency in Western Visayas on Thursday, May 6.
The two forces met during the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Cluster (RJPSCC 6) at Madi-as Hall, PRO-6 at Camp Martin Delgado Iloilo City, spearheaded by PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda and 3ID Commander Major General Eric Vinoya.
Agenda of the meeting include updates on the current insurgency situation, counterinsurgency operations, status of Legal Offensives against Communist Terror Groups (CTG), training between PNP and AFP, and other matters of mutual cooperation.
Miranda assured the full support of the police force with the 3ID’s campaign to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the region.
“The collaboration and cooperation of the PNP and the 3ID is very strong here in Panay and Negros Islands. Let us continue working together as one, for we can achieve great things when we support one another,” Miranda said.
According to Vinoya, the joint efforts of the AFP and PNP proved once again their efficiency and effectiveness in addressing insurgency and establishing peace and order.
“We have done enough, but there is still need to be done. This is because until it is not over, it is not yet over. As they say, in order to finish insurgency, we need to finish them completely, and we shall continue the fight in the spirit of joint operations.” Vinoya said.
Vinoya added that through the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), the CTGs influence in decreasing nationwide as well in region.
He said the RJPSCC 6 should reach out to other concerned government agencies to coordinate and further their effort./PN
