ILOILO City – Four residents of Barangay Santo Niño Norte, Arevalo district face illegal gambling charges.
Christy Buche, Christine Tabilona, Teresita Mines, and Emilino Vicencio were arrested for playing mahjong, a police report showed.
Officers brought them to the Arevalo police station where they were detained after their arrest at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The four were playing the tile-based game in front of the house of Mines, the police report stated.
Aside from the mahjong set, including three pieces of dice, officers seized from the Arevalo residents P237 worth of bet money.
Buche, Tabilona, Mines, and Vicencio may be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling./PN
