ILOILO – Four police officers of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) in Concepcion town were relieved from their posts following a fatal shooting at a karaoke bar in the municipality on Oct. 24.
The following face investigation: Police Officer 2 Alavin Arroyo, Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Villa Carlos, Police Officer 1 Nicko Abanto, and Police Officer 1 Marjon Gemora.
RPSB commander Superintendent Kim Legada ordered the cops’ sacking.
Thursday last week, RPSB’s Police Officer 1 JV Longno killed karaoke bar owner John Namod and wounded the latter’s helper Lindy Franco in Barangay Loong, Concepcion.
Legada said Arroyo, Abanto, Villa Carlos and Gemora failed to prevent the shooting.
He also learned that prior to the shooting, Arroyo had a heated argument with the victims.
“Arroyo eventually left the bar but Longno also had a heated argument with Namod and Franco,” said Legada.
Longno and Arroyo may be charged with grave misconduct, said Legada, while the fate of Abanto, Gemora and Villa Carlos would depend on the results of the investigation, said Legada.
The four police officers were reassigned disarmed and reassigned to Camp Delgado, the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo City.
Murder and frustrated murder charges were filed against Longno on Oct. 24.
The complaints were lodged before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office by Chief Inspector Jonathan Pinuela, Concepcion police chief.
Longno was made to take a Character Aptitude Development and Enhancement Training last month at the Police Regional Office 6 in Camp Delgado, Panay News learned.
“He had an attitude problem. The training aimed to shape his character for the better, unfortunately he got into trouble,” said Senior Superintendent Harold Tuzon, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office./PN
