ILOILO City – Four villages in Jaro district are under tight police watch following intelligence reports alluding to the proliferation of illegal drugs and presence of drug pushers.
The four barangays are Desamparados, Lanit, Balantang, and Cubay.
Based on the validation of police intelligence personnel and through the information from the community, drug pushers and users thrive in the four barangays, said Senior Insp. Herbert Ballego, Jaro police chief.
“There are other barangays also drug-affected but we would like to focus more on these four,” Ballego told Panay News yesterday.
He said drug personalities thereat have adopted a “guerilla” strategy to avoid arrest. They do not stay in one place but move from one barangay to another.
“They are very careful but we are as determined in chasing them,” Ballego said.
Ballago added that they have a list of new drug personalities.
Earlier, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director, Paul Ledesma, admitted that barangays Desamparados and Bakhaw in Mandurriao are the favorite havens of pushers and users.
He identified the Previndido group as the mastermind of the Bakhaw operation./PN
