BACOLOD City – Four individuals – three of them security guards – were arrested in this capital city on Wednesday for violating the election gun ban.
Security guards Armando Talarong, Armhel Cuer and Jose Libres were nabbed after they fired their service firearms at a construction site in Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre, police said.
They are employees of the DSR Security Agency, the company whose personnel are assigned to man the construction site.
Two .9mm-caliber pistols and a .38-caliber revolver were seized from the guards.
Police also arrested the 26-year-old Barangay 35 resident Hermel Flores for carrying a gun.
The officers recovered from him a 12-gauge shotgun.
The security guards and Flores were detained.
All licenses to carry firearms outside of residences are suspended during the election period, which began Jan. 13 and will end June 12.
Only uniformed members of law enforcement agencies are exempted from the ban./PN
