ILOILO City – Four police officers assigned at the Arevalo police station have been placed under quarantine facility. They came in close contact with four female inmates who recently tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Police Captain Chen Tañagas, chief of the Arevalo police station, confirmed to Panay News that she already sent her police officers to the Baluarte Elementary School in Molo district for isolation while waiting for the results of their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests. The police officers were all asymptomatic.
The four officers remitted the said inmates to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) female dormitory in the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on April 16.
On Thursday, April 22, the BJMP informed Tañagas that the four female inmates tested positive for the virus.
“I encourage the people to refrain from going to our station while we are waiting for the swab test results of my men,” Tañagas said.
“Once they will come out negative, we have to pull them out of the isolation facility,” she added./PN
