ROXAS City – A four-month-old baby boy from Barangay Barra here died of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
He was the latest casualty of the viral disease in this city, bringing the total COVID-19 death toll here to 209 as of Aug. 19.
The baby was rushed by his parents to the hospital due to high fever but he did not make it.
When swabbed, the baby turned out positive for COVID-19.
The swab tests of his parents were, however, negative for COVID-19.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas condoled with the family.
“Nagapaabot kita sang pagpakigbuylog sa kasubo sang pamilya sang isa ka lapsag nga lalaki sang Barangay Barra,” said Dadivas.
The remains of the baby were brought to Iloilo City for cremation.
As of Aug. 19, Roxas City had 53 active cases of COVID-19. Of the 6,589 total confirmed cases recorded in this city, 6,327 have recovered.
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales./PN
