4 San Jose villages on lockdown

SAN JOSE, Antique – From Monday, Oct. 4, until Oct. 18, four barangays here are on granular lockdown. They each recorded at least four new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

These are the villages:

* Barangay 1 – four cases

* Barangay 8 – five cases

* Barangay Igbonglo – four cases            

* Barangay Maybato North – eight cases

“Mayors may impose granular lockdown in barangays with four or more recorded cases of COVID,” according to Gov. Rhodora Cadiao in Executive Order No. 187, Series of 2021 issued on Sept. 30.

As of Oct. 4, San Jose had 34 active cases in the following barangays: Atabay (two), Barangay 1 (four), Barangay 2 (two), Barangay 3 (one), Barangay 8 (five), Funda Dalipe (one), Igbonglo (four), Madrangga (three), Maybato North (eight), Maybato South (one), and San Pedro (two).

The town’s COVID death toll stood at 62 while the number of cases that recovered rose to 1,545, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) added.

The MHO again reminded people to follow the public health protocols – wear facemask, observe physical distancing and proper hand washing.

Unless necessary, people should not go out and just stay in their homes, it added, to further lessen their exposure to COVID-19.

Data from the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) as of Oct. 3 ranked San Jose as third among Antique’s 18 towns in the number of active COVID-19 cases.

Anini-y topped the list with 53 cases, followed by Sibalom (44), San Jose (34), San Rimegio (30), Hamtic (29), Bugasong (22), Culasi (20), Tobias Fornier (18), Valderrama (17), Tibiao (13), Patnongon (12), Barbaza (six), Belison (six), Laua-an (five), Caluya (four), and Pandan (two).

Libertad and Sebaste have no active COVID-19 cases as of Oct. 3./PN
