ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office, in convergence with the Department of Education (DepEd), is set to construct another academic building at Hiniragan National High School in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
A groundbreaking rite was done recently by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., Vice Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, Negros Occidental 5th Legislative District Congressman, Alejandro Y. Mirasol and Hiniragran Mayor Jose Nadie P. Arceo, along with officials of DPWH and DepEd.
District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos said the project, in the amount of P45.154 million, involves construction of one unit, 4-Storey, 20-Classroom building with the dimension of 9.5 meters by 54 meters.
Melosantos said the project is expected to be completed in August this year, given fair weather condition, to cater the increasing number of senior high school students due to the K-12 program of DepEd.
“This 20-classroom building will provide a conducive learning facility to approximately 800 junior and senior high school students in the fulfillment of their dreams to have quality education,” Melosantos said.
According to Hinigaran National High School principal, Mr. Primitivo A. Pacurib, principal, the building will house the different laboratories for the senior high, lecture rooms and offices to answer the call for quality education and better service for the community.
“We pledge to maintain and uphold the quality of our service by continually seeking more opportunities for our students, so that they may be ready to tussle for their lives ahead. We envision for a fully equipped venue for the program of the community,” he added.
Meantime, the District is scheduled to implement more school buildings in various schools within its areas of jurisdiction, with the goal of providing quality facility for the improvement of the teaching- learning process and strategies of teachers, and students thus, uplifting their morale./PN
