ILOILO City – Students and teachers of Jerusalem National High School in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental will soon have a new building that will serve as additional venue for their journey towards quality education.

District Engineer Jaime SJ Javellana of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office said the school project, in the amount of P49.151 million, involves the construction of 4-Storey building with 16 standard-size classrooms funded under the District’s CY 2018 Regular Infrastructure Program, in convergence with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Javellana added that this school building project is expected to be completed this year, in time for the opening of classes for academic year 2019.

“This 4-Storey, 16-Classroom school building can accommodate more or less 650 students, considering the 1:40 classroom-student ratio. This building will provide students and teachers a conducive learning facility, one that is new and a lot more comfortable,” Javellana said.

Likewise, Ms. Jessa Marie Diducay, a senior high school teacher, said that the building will be used as laboratory and additional classrooms for future enrolment of their senior high school program, which is expected to increase this school year.

Diducay added that the new school building will answer the lack of classrooms they had experienced in the past years, benefiting the students as well as the teachers and the community.

Meanwhile, Engr. Javellana said that in convergence with DepEd, they (DPWH) will be constructing more school buildings in various schools within the District’s areas of jurisdiction, as a humble contribution towards achievement of educational development and excellence of the people in the province./PN
