PHILIPPINE Superliga will return to Western Visayas in a double-header Invitational Cup on July 3 at the Cadiz Arena in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Defending champion Cignal HD Spikers and Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors will face off in the first game while Grand Prix Conference titlist Petron Blaze Spikers and Foton Tornadoes will battle in the second game.
Negros Volleyball Federation interim president Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa said the out-of-town match will push through after they signed a memorandum of agreement with Cadiz City mayor Patrick Escalante.
âWe are glad to announce that the Philippine Superliga will hold a pair of matches in Cadiz City this conference,â Gamboa told Panay News. âThis is a treat to Negrense volleyball fans.â
The event will also serve as a homecoming for Negros Occidental-based players Bernadeth Pons of Blaze Spikers (from Talisay City) and Michelle Laborte of Lady Realtors (from Bacolod City).
This will be the second time the Superliga will hold an out-of-town match in Negros Occidental after the triple-header event in the All-Filipino Conference on Nov. 4 last year at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City.
Last month the Superliga also held a two-day all-star match at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center in Silay City./PN
