4 teams in Iloilo Gov’s Cup basketball

FOUR basketball teams confirmed participation to the Iloilo Governor’s Cup National Invitational Championships from May 17 to 20.

They were PBA D-League teams Marinerong Pilipino Skippers and Centro Escolar University Scorpions, Lyceum Pirates from the NCAA, and Sky Cable Iloilo.

Bannering the Koy Banal-mentored Skippers are Ilonggo Billy Ray Robles, Alvin Pasaol, Joseph Terso, Vince Tolentino, Abu Tratter, John Lopez, Achie Iñigo, Mike Ayonayon, Philip Paredes, Ralph Olivares, Gideon Babilonia, Kyle Toth, and Gab Banal.

The Efren Garcia-coached Scorpions will have Rodrigue Ebondo, Christian Uri, Keanu Caballero, Orlan Wamar Jr., Lorenz Guinitaran, Tyron Chan, Joseph Manlangit, Patrick Aquino, JR Fuentes, Jordan Intic, Oliver Arim, Sonny Boy Saber, Mishaal Veron, and Mark Neil Cruz.

Pirates, of head coach Michael Robinson, has Jaymar Perez, Jesper Ayaay, Reymar Caduyac, Kim Cinco, Nino Ibañes, Aldrich Liwag, Edcor Marata, Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino, Mike Nzeusseu, Spencer Pretta, Jeffrey Santos, Jeric Serrano, Ralph Tansingco, and Rhanzelle Yong.

Sky Cable Iloilo has yet to release its lineup as the team owner was still scouting for players.

Ray Cabarles, provincial sports development officer, told Panay News the tournament format will be single round-robin – the top team at the end of eliminations will be crowned champion./PN
