MANILA – Four Western Visayas-based players will see action in the inaugural leg of the PBA 3×3 basketball competition which begins today at the Ynares 0 Arena in Pasig City.
Ilonggo three-point gunner Jaypee Belencion is set to spearhead the Limitless Appmasters along with Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Marvin Hayes and Reymar Caduyac.
Bacolod City native Nico Paolo Javelona, meanwhile, will play for the Purefoods TJ Titans team along with Joseph Eriobu, Hezy Val Acuña, Jun Bonsubre, and Jed Mendoza.
Another Bacolodnon guard in Luis Alfonso “LA” Revilla will captain the NorthPort Batang Pier 3×3 squad along with Michael Calisaan, Jeepy Faundo and rookie Mark Olayon.
Bacolodnon rookie Jeffrey Manday, on the other hand, will banner the San Miguel Beermen 3×3 team along with Louie Vigil, Raymond Austria and James Mangahas.
TJ Titans and Appmasters are bracketed in Pool A along with TNT Tropang Giga, Zamboanga Valientes and Platinum Karaoke, while Batang Pier and the Beermen are in Pool C along with CAVITEX Braves and Pioneer Pro Tibay.
Squads in Pool B of the 3×3 competition, meanwhile, were Barangay Ginebra San Miguel 3×3, Terrafirma Dyip 3×3, Meralco Bolts 3×3, and Sista Super Sealers.
The top three teams in Pool A, and top two in Pools B and C, respectively, after group stage matches slated this Saturday and early Sunday will advance to the quarterfinals round later in the day.
The third best teams in Pools B and C, on the other hand, will figure in a knockout game for the eighth and last quarterfinals berth. Both the quarterfinals and semifinals are knockout matches, with the two surviving teams after the semis will figure in a one-game winner-take-all finals.
The leg champion will take home P100,000 cash prize while the runner-up and third placer has P50,000 and P30,000, respectively./PN
