MANILA – The Western Visayas provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Antique, and Capiz are among the 30 priority provinces for the rollout of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) next month.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has already started coordinating with regional offices of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the rollout, said Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.
“The PSA sought DILG’s assistance in securing memorandums of agreement with various local government agencies for the PhilSys,” he added.
The assistance would be in terms of pre-registration, manpower requirement, transportation, crowd control as well as other logistical support.
The mass registration for the national identification system will commence next month in spite of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
“Tuloy-tuloy na po ito until we are able to initially register five million before the end of the year. The rest of the country will be done next year,” said Malaya.
