ILOILO – A four-year-old girl died from drowning while swimming in a pool at Amnesia Resort in Barangay Botong, Oton town around 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Leo Apuhin, investigator of the Oton police station, the victim – whose name was withheld by the police upon her mother’s request – was seen by her playmates lifeless in the pool around five feet deep.
Apuhin said the victim was immediately brought by the Oton Search and Rescue Team (OSART) to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City but was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.
The child’s parents and the owner of the resort are set to meet to talk about the incident, police said.
As of this writing, the Oton police were investigating the incident and waiting for the result of the talk between the victim’s parents and the resort management./PN
