40 Negros soldiers receive medals

BACOLOD City – Forty government troopers of 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) and 79th Infantry Battalion (79IB) of the Philippine Army received commendation medals for their exemplary performance during combat operations in Negros Occidental.

Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, pinned the medals to the soldiers who accomplished two successful encounters against New People’s Army fighters (NPA) last week.

“As a commander, it is my duty to keep my men well-motivated and to ensure that their hard work, sacrifices and bravery in the battlefield are recognized,” said Arevalo.

The awarding ceremony for 62IB soldiers was held at the battalion headquarters in Barangay Libas, Isabela, Negros Occidental while 79IB members received their merits in Barangay Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental./PN
