ILOILO City — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has reinforced the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 40 additional police personnel.

These 40 cops will be temporarily spread out to different police stations and the Iloilo City Public Safety Company while awaiting the approval of the higher command for the conversion of a substation into a police station, ICPO spokesperson Chief Insp. Gilbert Gorero said.

The ICPO has proposed that the substation in Brgy. MV Hechanova, Jaro district, be converted into a fully operational police station, considering that Jaro is the largest among the districts of this city.

Gorero said they are awaiting the decision of Camp Crame.

Once Camp Crame approves the ICPO’s proposal, personnel will be deployed to the new police station, which will have jurisdiction over 13 barangays, including the relocation site in Brgy. Lanit.

Chief Insp. Rhea Santos, Jaro police chief, said an additional police station in Jaro would be favorable to her.

“It will enable me to focus on the security of risk-prone establishments, like pawnshops and banks, as well as those that need constant police visibility,” Santos said.

Mame-maintain natin talaga ang peace and order and [we can] deter crimes kasi maliit na ang ating area,” she said./PN
