MANILA – Forty–four more Filipinos currently based abroad has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a data from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) showed.


The DFA said over the weekend the additional cases have raised the total Filipinos abroad who contracted the virus to 1,751.
From the said total, five more have died for a total of 207 casualties, while the number of Filipino migrants who recovered from COVID-19 increased by 10 for a total of 465.


“A review of trends over this past month reveals that on average, DFA receives daily reports of 11 new recoveries and 6 new deaths among our nationals abroad,” the DFA said in a statement.

“It is our hope to see more recoveries in the coming days and eventually, 0 fatalities among our people here and abroad. Together, let’s #BeatCOVID19!” it added.


As of Saturday, some 1,069 of the identified cases are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down as follows by regions: 163 in the Asia Pacific Region, 328 in Europe, 328 in the Middle East and Africa, and 250 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the novel coronavirus has so far infected 8,928 people, 603 of whom died while 1,124 recovered./PN
