ILOILO City – At least 49 police officers from various units under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) had completed a five-day road safety awareness and defensive driving training.

The Regional Highway Patrol Unit 6 spearheaded the training at Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo B. Delgado in this city from October 12 to 16.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, said the training was designed to equip Philippine National Police (PNP) police personnel with the essential and required skills for safe and efficient motorcycle operations and enhance their knowledge on basic and tactical law enforcement operations in various road conditions.

It likewise provided practical and theoretical instruction on road safety techniques, defensive driving strategies, and procedures to ensure safety while on highways or roads.

Wanky further emphasized the importance of the training in ensuring the safety of both the police officers and the general public while travelling either during official or on off-duty travels.

“The skills and knowledge shared by the instructors through this program are crucial for both the police officers and the general public. May the lessons you learned be applied and we expect more disciplined PNP personnel while on the roads and highways and may you share with others what you’ve learned,” Wanky added./PN
