ANTIQUE – A beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Mikaela Demamay from Belison, Antique bagged this year’s “Exemplary Child Award” of the province.
Demamay bested six other finalists. She also bagged three minor awards: Best in Write-ups, Best in Production Number, and Best in Talent.
Questine Faith Alonde of Tibiao town was declared first runner-up, while Lovely P. Villanueva of Pandan town won second runner-up.
Meanwhile, the Best in Interview was awarded to Vince Noel F. Fuentivilla of Bugasong town.
4Ps provincial operations officer Jeffrey Gabucay said it aims to recognize children and their families who, despite the odds, tried their best to pursue their studies and meet the requirements of the program.
The search re-commenced after years of hiatus due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. A committee conducted an initial evaluation of entries from the different municipalities and shortlisted seven finalists from San Jose, Sebaste, Tibiao, Hamtic, Pandan, Belison, and Bugasong towns.
Demamay will then represent the Antique in the Regional Search for Pantawid Pamilya Exemplary Children in Western Visayas.
The event also featured Pantawid Pamilya grantee Ma. Georgina Fadol of Sibalom, Antique. She recently graduated from the program, with four of her eight children being supported by the 4Ps.
Fadol expressed her gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for giving her family the support and opportunity to send her children to school and finish their studies. (PIA Antique)/PN
