ILOILO City – A total of 3,197 students who are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program’s (4Ps) Expanded Students’ Grants-In-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) are graduating from college this month.
Of these students, 198 are cum laudes and 17 are magna cum laudes.
These soon-to-be graduates come from the following schools:
* Aklan State University – 333 (23 cum laudes)
* Capiz State University — 856 (51 cum laudes, six magna cum laudes)
* Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (Negros Occidental) – 98 (one cum laude)
* Central Philippines State University (Negros Occidental) – 126 (two magna cum laudes, eight cum laudes)
* Guimaras State College – 92
* Iloilo State College of Fisheries – 114 (four cum laudes)
* Iloilo Science and Technology University – 391 (four magna cum laudes, 25 cum laudes)
* Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College – 234 (27 cum laudes, one magna cum laude)
* Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology – 218 (four magna cum laudes)
* Philippine Normal University (Cadiz City) – 73 graduates (six cum laudes, one magna cum laude)
* University of Antique – 104 (one cum laude)
* West Visayas State University – 557 (71 cum laudes, six magna cum laude)
These students were each allotted P30,000 every semester, according to Chandelyn Jesselle Rile, regional program coordinator for 4Ps of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The funds for living allowance, boardinghouse fee, book allowance, and tuition) were not directly given to the students but released to their schools.
“These scholars are blessed,” said Rile.
