BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is all set for the fourth round of “Bayanihan Bakunahan” from today until March 12.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the vaccination campaign is a push to attain herd immunity against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), prioritizing age groups which have yet to be reached, especially the senior citizens.
Yesterday morning, Negros Occidental received 60,840 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, and 3,760 CoronaVac vaccines of Sinovac.
Also, 20,300 doses of Pfizer vaccines for children were received, and Diaz said the province’s cold storage facility is now full.
“We have more than enough vaccines to serve our needs” Diaz said.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) will also visit local government units with low turnouts for COVID-19 vaccination among senior citizens.
The Department of Health (DOH) will send a team to augment manpower for the province’s three-day vaccination program.
As of March 2, 63 percent of the target population in the province already received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 57.22 percent were already fully-vaccinated.
A total of 3.17 percent of the fully-vaccinated have also received their booster dose.
There are currently 785,462 of the 2,098,421 target population who remain unvaccinated./PN
