ROXAS City — Five graduating students of Capiz National High School (CNHS) got flak online after suggestive photos of them went viral on Facebook.
In the photos, the students — all female — were holding folders and pieces of paper with vulgar words expressing their “want” for sex written on them.
One of the girls had her skirt raised, exposing her legs, while another was covering her face with a folder with vulgar words.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the girls said the photos were “trip-trip lang (taken on a whim) and supposed to be deleted immediately.
She said a classmate, whom she identified only as “Dennis,” took their photos inside a CNHS classroom last month.
The student said she asked Dennis to delete the photos immediately, but he did not do it until three days later.
While he was sorry for taking the photos, Dennis denied instructing the girls to hold the folders and papers with vulgar words.
Dennis, over a radio interview, said he did not expect that the photos would go viral.
Another girl said a female classmate, who was not in the photos, was the one who wrote the suggestive words.
Among the words written on the pieces of paper were “I—t ta,” “Wanted Sex Room 48” and “Wanted Mering.” “Mering” is gay slang for sex.
The one who had her skirt raised claimed that she did not notice that her legs were already exposed.
One of the girls’ parents said the girls and Dennis were classmates and friends.
CNHS principal Segundina Dollete yesterday met with the students and their parents and guardians to discuss the problem.
Instead of being suspended, the students will be provided guidance counseling, Dollete said.
While the students will be able to continue their studies, they might not join other students and might meet with their teachers after class hours and take lessons via modular instruction, Dollete said.
Dollete asked the CNHS students, teachers and nonteaching staff not to bully the students involved in the viral photo.
A person behind the Facebook username Rey Gumakaw posted the photos on Bombo Radyo Roxas’ Facebook page on July 10.
One of the parents asked not to have the viral photos published on print media./PN
