ILOILO City ā€“ For grave misconduct, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) dismissed from the service five policemen of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Napolcomā€™s en banc came up with the ruling on Nov. 28, 2017 yet but its office in Western Visayas received the order only on Feb. 28 this year.

The five sacked policemen were Senior Police Officer 1 Dante Sison, Police Officer 3 Alexis Jutis, Police Officer 2Ā Dinaree Sia, Police Officer 1 Milbert NiƱo and Police Officer 1 Rodel Paulan. All were under ICPOā€™s anti-illegal special operations task group.

According to the Napolcom en banc, it opted to impose the maximum administrative penalty of dismissal from service due to aggravating circumstances such as ā€œtaking advantage of official positionā€ and ā€œminority of the victim.ā€

Atty. Joseph Celis, director of Napolcom in Western Visayas, said the en banc decision also dissolved the civil service eligibility of the five policemen, forfeited their retirement benefits, and perpetually disqualified them from holding public office.

Celis, however, said the policemen could still file a motion for reconsideration.

The complainant in this case was 16-year-old lass. She claimed that on Nov. 9, 2014 the policemen forcibly took her from her house in Barangay Boulevard, Molo district, interrogated her on Jalandoni Bridge in the City Proper and maltreated her over the missing service firearm of Police Officer 3 Jutis.

The teenager claimed she was slapped on the face, hit on the head with a cardboard and was threatened to be thrown off the bridge.

Police Officer Jutis claimed somebody stole his gun when he fell asleep at a beach resort in Arevalo on Oct. 17, 2014. That time, the girl and some friends were at the resort, too.

The complainant denied stealing Jutisā€™ service firearm./PN
