SAN JOSE, Antique – Five days were allotted for the mandatory training of newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in all barangays in Antique.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) set the one-day trainings on May 21 to 25, in compliance with Republic Act 10742, or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.
DILG provincial director Cherryl Tacda said SK winners who cannot attend the training won’t be allowed to assume post in June.
The training will be by batch, and the number of participants per day would depend on the capacity of the venues.
The University of Antique, in coordination with the DILG, is the service provider for the SK Mandatory Training.
“We have coordinated with local DILG offices to inform those who have won,” said Tacda.
The requirements for the said training include a 2×2 ID picture, registration form and P1,600 training fee.
The fee could either be paid in advance or on the day of the training, Tacda said.
Some of the topics in the training are history and salient features of the SK Law, decentralization and local governance, planning and budgeting in the barangay, legislation, (which includes conducting a meeting and making resolutions), and code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees.
Tacda said National Youth Commission and the DILG created presentation for the topics. (With Carlson Alelis /PIA/PN)
