SAN JOSE, Antique – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Antique is only waiting for the budget from its national counterpart so that the construction of five more fire stations in five towns in the province can start.
Provincial Fire Marshal Superintendent Randy Pudadera said a typical fire station construction would cost around P7.5 to P8 million.
The towns where the fire stations are planned to be built are Hamtic, Anini-y, Barbaza, Tibiao, and Caluya.
The five municipalities are the only remaining towns in the province without fire stations. Antique has 18 municipalities.
The local government units of the towns have already lot properties where their respective fire stations will be built.
But no time frame is yet set for the construction of the fire stations, said Pudadera.
Pudadera said he is still lobbying to fast-track the budget request every time he attends a meeting at the BFP-Regional Office.
Pudadera was assigned as Antique’s new fire marshal this January. (PNA/PN)
