BACOLOD City – Five regular city hall employees were given show-cause orders for unaccounted government service vehicles issued to them in the previous years.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the employees, composed of a driver, an engineer, and officers, were from different departments.

The orders, issued by Benitez on Wednesday, June 12, gave the employees five days to answer.

“This is to show why no criminal, civil or any administrative case shall be filed against them,” read part of the order.

Benitez said he has yet to issue preventive suspensions, depending on the result of the process.

He added that they will follow the procedures set by the Commission on Audit if the employees cannot produce the vehicles.

In February, the city government conducted an inventory of all its 500 issued vehicles.

Of these, 197 vehicles were serviceable, 108 were unserviceable, 90 were not found, 88 were not reported, 13 had no documents to be verified, and four were returned./PN
