KALIBO, Aklan – Five more municipalities in the province of Aklan that were placed under the red zone status were categorized as African Swine Fever (ASF) pink zones by the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The latest ASF Zoning Map and Zoning Status of DA’s Bureau of Animal Industry showed the municipalities of Madalag, Malinao, Balete, Banga, and New Washington have transitioned from infected (red zone) to buffer (pink zone).
The towns of Libacao and Buruanga remain in pink zone.
Pink zone serves as buffer, where no ASF infections are present although these towns are adjacent to an infected zone.
Towns that remain under red zone are Kalibo, Altavas, Batan, Numancia, Makato, Tangalan, Ibajay, Nabas, Lezo and Malay, according to the latest ASF watch as of April 30, 2024.
In Antique, the pink zones are the municipalities of Tobias Fornier, Patnongon, San Jose, and San Remigio.
The towns of Jamindan and Ma-ayon are the pink zones in the province of Capiz.
Iloilo province has the most number of towns under ASF pink zones: Anilao, Barotac Viejo, Batad, Cabatuan, Calinog, Concepcion, Dingle, Janiuay, Lambunao, Leganes, Lemery, Leon, Miagao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Sara, Tigbauan, and Zarraga.
The highly-urbanized City of Iloilo and Passi City are also categorized under pink zone./PN
