SAN JOSE, Antique – Fifty sugar migrants of the Iraynon Bukidnon Indigenous People (IP) availed themselves of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office’s (PSWDO) Aid to Individuals in Crisis Cituation (AICS).
“The IPs mostly from the municipality of Laua-an were still ashamed to ask for help and do not know where to go, so I am helping them,” IP provincial head Abel Pedro said.
Pedro said each IP received P2,000 from the DSWD released by the PSWDO on Tuesday.
The sugar farmer Alvino Berto said he was thankful for the financial assistance he received.
Berto added he has a respiratory ailment and he will use the money to buy medicines.
“I am thankful to the DSWD and to the Antique provincial government for the AICS,” he said. (With a report from PNA/PN)
