ILOILO City – Fifty hospitalized mothers at the West Visayas State University Medical Center received gifts from a nongovernment organization (NGO) dedicated to helping street children, the homeless and the unwell.
Each of the mothers received from Meals on Wheels a bag of fruits, biscuits, vitamins, and sandwiches.
The gift-giving was in line with the organization’s “Alay Kay Nanay” community reach-out to mark Mother’s Day on May 15.
The mothers also received Mother’s Day cards from the NGO.
“As a mother myself, I want to let mothers know that they are loved, especially during times of trials,” said Jennifer Gison, founder of Meals on Wheels.
“Alay Kay Nanay” was the first charity event of Meals on Wheels dedicated to mothers. Previous ones targeted street children. (Margaret Anjelie Llorico, intern, West Visayas State University – College of Communication/PN)
