BACOLOD City – At least 50 employees of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in this city were placed under a 14-day quarantine. A coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive patient was confirmed to have visited the agency’s premises.

The LTO-Bacolod compound, which houses the Negros Occidental Licensing Center, Bacolod City District Office and Negros Occidental Law Enforcement Service, were also temporarily closed.

According to Riza Otayde, deputy chief for operations division of the LTO-6, the closure would give authorities time to disinfect the area.

Susan Guara, head of the LTO-Bacolod Licensing Department, said it was Victorias City’s Mayor Frederick Palanca who informed their regional office that a male locally stranded individual visited the LTO compound on July 16 and 17 to process his driver’s license.

Guara said the 50 LTO personnel will undergo swab testing.

Normal operations of the agency will resume once results of the swab test come out and disinfection of the premises is finished, she added./PN
