51 brgys in Bacolod COVID-free

BACOLOD City – Of the 61 barangays here, 51 were declared free from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Data from the city government’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) showed the following barangays having no new COVID-19 cases from Feb. 19 to March 4: barangays 1 to 41, Alijis, Cabug, Felisa, Granada, Montevista, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Sum-ag, Tangub, and Vista Alegre.

But despite this, the city government reminded Bacolodnons to strictly follow minimum health protocols such as wearing of facemasks and face shields, washing of hands and social distancing, among others.

Meanwhile, this city has an ongoing COVID-19 vaccination using Sinovac jabs on healthcare workers.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of EOC, said about 20 frontliners – including the first six health workers – were inoculated at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby as of yesterday noon.

The vaccinated medical frontliners have not experienced any adverse side effects so far, he stressed.

The city government received a total of 6,300 doses of Sinovac vaccine on March 5 from the national government.
Sorongon said out of these doses, 1,600 were allocated to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and 600 to the Riverside Medical Center.

The two hospitals will kick-off their massive vaccination today, March 8./PN
