KALIBO, Aklan – Fifty-three children of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries were hired on the spot during a recent job caravan at the ABL Sports Complex.
“Hanapbuhay” aimed to provide livelihood to around 400 4Ps children who were trained in technical-vocational schools accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 held the job caravan under its Sustainable Livelihood Program.
Around 1,204, including non-4Ps beneficiaries who learned about the activity, participated.
Capitol, through the Public Employment Service Office, and the Department of Labor and Employment helped organize the event.
Aside from the 53 applicants hired on the spot, 668 were found qualified for various jobs offered by 23 recruitment agencies (14 local and nine overseas).
Those hired on the spot will be working as:
* fixed assets and supplies assistant, baggers, cashiers, sales, and stock clerks for a supermarket here
* grass-cutters for a manpower and general services company
* customer service representatives for a call center
* household service workers in the Middle East
Prior to the interviews, several agencies gave the applicants a briefing on their respective functions and services.
They included the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Labor and Employment, Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority, Social Security System, and Tesda. (PIA/PN)
