56 Iloilo barangays have clustering of COVID cases

ILOILO – A total of 56 barangays in the province reported clustering of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Health Office, said these barangays registered two or more local cases in the last 14 days (from Oct. 18 to Oct. 31).

“Two cases in two consecutive weeks pero may iban nga [barangays] nga more than two cases ang ila na-record,” Quiñon explained.

There are the barangays:

* Dela Peña, Barotac Viejo – two  

* Poblacion, Barotac Viejo – six

* San Lucas, Barotac Viejo – 18

* Cabasi, Guimbal – two 

* Igpandan, Miag-ao – two

* Igtuba, Miag-ao – 12

* Abilay Norte, Oton – two

* Abilay Sur, Oton – two

According to Quiñon, the 56 barangays recorded a total of 194 COVID-19 infections in the span of two weeks.

As for the total cases in the province, PHO recorded 2,108 people infected with the viral illness.

Of the total figure, 626 are active or 29.71 percent; 1,425 or 67.74 percent recovered; and 57 or 2.55 percent died.

The five municipalities with the most number of coronavirus infections were Oton (228 cases with four deaths); Pavia (210 cases with three deaths); Passi City (146 cases); Santa Barbara (87 cases with two deaths); Tigbauan (87 cases with one death).

Quiñon reiterated to the public the need to strictly follow the “3Ms” – magmaskara, maghinaw kag magdistansya.

Kinahanglan dapat nga disiplanado, i-unay sa lawas ang disiplina kay kon may disiplina sa lawas masunod gid naton ang 3Ms. Paminsaron dapat nila ang ila katigungalan, kabataan kag ang mga kautoran nga mahina ang immune system posible matapikan sang virus,” Quiñon said./PN
