5Ws and 1H of Lenten events

BY HELEN J. CATALBAS

(3rd of 3 parts)

THE FIFTH and last of the 5Ws of Lenten events or any event for that matter refers to WHO.

This W consists of all the actors in an event. They could be event managers; presentors and co-presentors; beneficiaries, sponsors, benefactors, partners; advertisers, marketing and promotion team; mainstream and social media; program part-takers and stage players; physical and online audience; light, audio, visual and other technical operators; documentors, evaluators; location owners; utility personnel and all those responsible to provide the answers and solutions to the four other Ws and the only H.

H stands for how. It refers to ways and means, methodologies and strategies to achieve goals, objectives, results and outcomes.

The various actors in a Lenten event for example may have different goals and objectives in mind but at the end of the day their respective hows contribute to the achievement of the whys of the event managers and sponsors.

Lenten season practices and events happen all over the world with some reaching festival proportions while others remain as low key and solemn as they have been since time immemorial. But then again, their status and magnitude is dependent on their respective 5 Ws and one H.

Let’s respect and appreciate each other’s Lenten events. (HJC/PN)
