6 Bingawan healthcare workers now COVID-free

ILOILO – Bingawan town’s six healthcare workers who recently tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have all recovered.

Their second test showed them not anymore having SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Mayor Matt Palabrica said specimens extracted from the workers were analyzed at the Corazon Locsin Montelabano Memorial Regional Hospital molecular laboratory in  Bacolod City and the results were released on Aug. 2.

“Our town is now COVID-free but we continue to worry. We have newly returned locally stranded individuals, basi may mag-positive naman,” he told Panay News.

The municipality was placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) last month after six staff of its Rural Health Unit were found infected.

The ECQ was lifted on July 27.

The six healthcare workers have returned to work, too – three midwives, two nurses and the ambulance driver.

They were tested on June 29 and their COVID-positive results came out on July 13. They were immediately quarantined.

Their second test was conducted on July 24.

“We are calling all people of Bingawan. Do not be complacent. Always wear facemask and maintain social distancing,” said Palabrica./PN
