ILOILO City – Six persons including a retired fireman face charges for illegally connecting to the electricity owned by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 6.

BFP public information officer, Insp. Stephen Jardeleza identified the suspects as retired fireman Freddie Jaudian, Emilda Simon, spouses Ritchelda and Alvin Gepana, Tingting Sonqulat and cafeteria owner Ma. Victoria Tablatin.

They will be charged with violation of Republic Act 7832 that penalizes the pilferage of electricity and theft of electrical transmission lines.

This case is set to be filed before the court following the resolution issued by the City Prosecutor’s Office recommending the BFP, as the complainant, to formally file the case in court.

The respondents reportedly failed to submit their counter affidavits when they were summoned in July 2013.

Jardeleza said they discovered the illegal connection of the respondents in July 2013 after their electric bill ballooned to P90,000 instead of the usual P25,000./PN
