PHO added that 4,526 or 82 percent were local cases. Some 694 were locally stranded individuals; 259 were returning overseas Filipinos; and 73 were authorized persons outside residence.

This April, there’s an average of 15 cases recorded daily.

In March, the daily average was 30 and in February it was 29.

Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO chief, is thus encouraging the public to always practice the 3Ms strategy – magmaskara, magdistansya, manghinaw – to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Quiñon also reiterated Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.’s order prohibiting social gatherings like fiestas, thanksgivings, birthday, baptismal and wedding receptions, among others.

Gatherings by immediate family members, meanwhile, are allowed.
