ILOILO City – Police arrested six individuals for alleged illegal fishing in Barangay Odiongan, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
They were Jay Morong, 19, of Barangay Bacjawan Sur, San Dionisio; Joey Peñaflorida, 23, of Barangay Nipa, Dionisio; Arnolfo Almario, 55, of Barangay Pangi, San Dionisio; Reno Mosqueda; Florente Besin, 41; and Jereme Bihag, 43 – all residents of Barangay Odiongan.
They were caught after local authorities chanced upon them fishing in marine protected area without permit around 8 p.m. on Sept. 29.
The suspects were taken to the municipal police station, facing charges for violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 12-03 Section 74 that outlaws fishing without permit./PN
