ILOILO City – Six persons were arrested in Barangay Tanza Bonifacio here in an entrapment operation.

They were hoarding and selling overpriced alcohol, according to Police Major Marlon Valencia, Mandurriao district police chief.

The entrapment was carried out on Tuesday by the Mandurriao police in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Iloilo City Police Office.

The following suspects were detained at the Mandurriao district police station:

* Princess Angel Jamolo, 23, of Barangay Tanza Bonifacio

* Jennefer Frayco, 32, of Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala

* Keifer Jhon Vera, 22, of Barangay Rizal Estanzuela

* Gracel Mae Castro, 34, of Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala

* Ernalyn Veras, 28, of Barangay Tanza Bonifacio

The other suspect, Conrado Sorongon, 42, of Barangay Buhang, Jaro district, was taken to St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo due to an underlying medical condition, said Valencia.

Mandurriao policemen conducted the operation at around 6 p.m. They transacted with Jamolo to buy P20,300 worth of alcohol and these should be delivered in the City Proper.

The police were able to recover 107 gallons or 532 liters of alcohol valued at P154,280.

Valencia said they planned the entrapment after an informant alerted them about a group selling alcohol at a steep price.

The suspects would be charged with violation of Republic Act 10623 (Price Act), Republic Act 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines), and Department of Trade and Industry’s Memorandum Circular No. 20-07 prohibiting hoarding, said Valencia.

They could not be reached for comment as of this writing.
