ILOILO – Two police officers, a community affairs officer, a jail officer, a teacher, and a group from Western Visayas were chosen as semifinalists in this year’s Search for Outstanding Government Officials and Employees of the Civil Service Commission.
Thirteen regional winners were chosen from 28 nominations and advanced to the national level this year, said Chief Human Resource Specialist Leo Jamorin of the CSC Region 6 Public Assistance and Liaison Division.
Six of the 13 were named semifinalists – three for the Dangal ng Bayan Award and another three for the Pagasa Award.
Western Visayas’ semifinalists for the Dangal ng Bayan Award are Community Affairs Officer II Inigo Garingalao of the Iloilo City government, Police Officer 2 Erick John de Lemos of the Kalibo municipal police station and Police Officer 3 Mary Catherine Demontaño of the Police Regional Office 6.
Meanwhile the region’s semifinalists for the Pagasa Award are Senior Inspector Marie Charyl Jamolo of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region 6, Principal II Annabelle Alipo-on of Payao Elementary School in Negros Occidental and the Botanical Dewormer Group of the Capiz State University in Dumarao town.
Jamorin said the semifinalists and the other regional winners will be recognized in a ceremony on Sept. 6 as part of the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration.
Commissioner Leopoldo Roberto Valderosa Jr. was invited as guest speaker.
In addition the CSC will hold a job fair at SM City Iloilo from Sept. 7 to 8. Various government agencies are participating.
“This is an opportunity for those who would like to work in government to know the vacancies and the qualifications and requirements,” said Jamorin. (PIA/PN)
