ILOILO – A total of P6 million in livelihood assistance was distributed to 600 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from eight towns in this province.
According to Ann Rapunzel “Rara” Ganzon, Development Management Officer 2 and spokesperson of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the eight recipient towns were Lambunao (P2.4 million), Janiuay (P800,000), Badiangan (P500,000), Bingawan (P500,000),; Calinog (P500,000), Mina (P500,000), Pototan (P500,000), and Ajuy (P300,000).
The assistance is under the Livelihood Assistance Grants (LAGs) from Sen. Bong Go, Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 (DSWD) and the provincial government.
LAG is one of the recovery programs of the government under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). It provides seed capital for new alternative income-generating projects.
It is also a support and additional capital to existing viable projects of the beneficiaries affected by the pandemic and/or calamities.
Among those present during the recent payout to 240 beneficiaries of LAG and PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganang Mamamayan) Project from Calinog town’s four barangays were DSWD undersecretary Allan E. Tanjunsay, DSWD-6 assistant regional director for operations Delia Villa-Bagolcol, SLP Iloilo provincial coordinator Anthony Laruan, and the SLP Regional Management Team.
Project Evaluation Officer II Ma. Theresa F. Comoda, Social Welfare Officer I Hazel Mae Gaquit and Ganzon represented the PSWDO. (With a report from LHC, Capitol News)/PN
