ILOILO City – The 62 police chiefs in Western Visayas recently reshuffled face a second performance assessment in the campaign against illegal drugs.
If they fail the assessment (Sept. 9 to Oct. 22), they will be reassigned outside the region or charged administratively, or be penalized with both, said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
“These police chiefs still have a chance to improve their performance,” he stressed.
The performance of Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) will also be assessed by the PRO-6 oversight committee, said Gorero.
“The PRO-6 is sustaining the war against illegal drugs,” he stressed.
President Rodrigo Duterte gave the police until the end of December 2016 to cleanse the country of illegal drugs.
The 62 police chiefs included 22 from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, 14 from the Aklan PPO, 13 from the Antique PPO, 10 from the Capiz PPO, and three from the Guimaras PPO.
On the other hand, Gorero appealed for understanding from local chief executives to help the police in fighting against illegal drugs.
