ILOILO City – Policemen across Western Visayas arrested 65 suspected drug personalities and 229 wanted persons from May 24 to May 30.
Also within that period, 56 anti-drug operations were conducted, data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed. Another 217 operations were staged targeting fugitives.
Sixty-three operations were also conducted in the campaign against illegal gambling, netting 223 individuals.
On the other hand, the police recovered 104 firearms and 26 explosives in the “Oplan Katok” drive against loose firearms, with 17 persons arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
According to PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, these accomplishments were the result of their program “Birada Semana” .
“This initiative has made the PRO-6 among the best-performing units in the Philippine National Police…We further encourage our personnel to do more. We appreciate their hardships,” Miranda said.
The police director also warned officers against engaging in illegal activities.
“Kapag ang mga pulis ay gumagawa ng kabutihan, sinasaulian rin natin ang kanilang pinaghirapan sa pamamagitan ng pagbigay ng mga certifications. Pero kung may ginagawang kalokohan, there’s no doubt we will kick them out of the service,” Miranda stressed./PN
