66 Jaro cops take ‘surprise’ drug test

ILOILO City – Sixty-six policemen and five non-uniformed personnel of the Jaro police station were subjected to an unscheduled drug test yesterday morning.

Personnel of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) crime laboratory conduct the test.

It was part of the ongoing internal cleansing of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), said Chief Inspector Tranquilino Querubin, Jaro police chief.

“Dapat ang tanan nga personnel sang every police station ma-drug test,” said Querubin.

He expressed confidence that all Jaro police station personnel would pass the drug test.

Querubin had been heading the Jaro police station these past 18 months. He said none of his men failed previous drug tests.

In yesterday drug test, cops and non-uniformed personnel submitted urine samples. It was timed with the annual inspection conducted by the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Napolcom regional director Atty. Joseph Celis led the inspection.

“Wala man may nakita ukon may na-notice si Director Celis nga mga lapses,” said Querubin.

The PRO-6 crime laboratory did not say when it would release the results of the drug test./PN
