BACOLOD City – As of July 18, the city government has administered a total of 66,012 doses of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to its residents. Some 22,477 have completed their second shots, data from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) showed.
Those who received the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine reached to 22,605 while 65,884 got the China-made Sinovac jabs, the report added.
The EOC-Task Force (EOC-TF) and the COVID-19 Vaccination Council (CoVaC) continue this week the vaccine rollout for priority residents in clustered barangays.
Meanwhile, on July 19, the city got 51,040 doses of vaccines, the biggest volume received in one delivery since the implementation of the city’s vaccination program. These were the AstraZeneca (18,700 doses), one-shot Johnson & Johnson (30,000) and Pfizer (2,340).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia thanked National Inter Agency Task Force chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez for “keeping his word to keep Bacolod among the priorities” for vaccination.
“We are sure this volume will help us accelerate the implementation of our vaccination program,” Leonardia said.
“It must be noted that the 18,700 doses of AstraZeneca is already part of the vaccines that we contracted in our tripartite agreement with the national government and AstraZeneca. And with this, we expect our locally funded vaccines to come on regular basis,” he added.
The mayor also appealed for the participation of residents in the vaccination program.
